Reborn Treant Soulwood Boss Guide

The Reborn Treant Soulwood is a formidable Main Boss encountered in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. This guide will walk you through its location, weaknesses, detailed strategies for victory, and the rewards you’ll earn for felling this corrupted giant.

The primary weakness for the Reborn Treant Soulwood is Fire. While its full set of resistances is still being researched, focusing on fire-based attacks is the most effective strategy.

Defeating the Soulwood requires a combination of elemental attacks, battlefield awareness, and striking at opportune moments. Follow these steps to claim victory.

  1. Use Fire Spells or Flame Tempering

Inflicting Fire damage is crucial. You have several options available, some of which can be acquired before this fight:

    • Bone Needle - Flame: This Temperance ability is obtained after defeating Man-Eating Dhutanga. You can unlock it at any shrine.
    • Echo of Dhutanga: A powerful spell also dropped by Man-Eating Dhutanga.
    • Infernal Flames: This spell is a reward for defeating the fire-dancing humanoid in Worship’s Rise, near the Shu Sanctum.
    • Burning Flames: Dropped by the enemy wearing a bird beak mask at Doomwillow Beach.
  2. Step on Blue Buds for Skyborn Might

During the fight, the Soulwood will use its Blood Globules attack, launching a large, homing red projectile. When you successfully dodge this attack, it leaves behind glowing blue buds on the ground at the point of impact. Step on these buds to gain a charge of Skyborn Might, a powerful buff that will aid you in the fight.

  3. Attack When It Drops Its Head and Hands

The best windows to deal significant damage are when the Soulwood lowers its head and hands to the ground. This occurs during its Vacuum and Flame Blast attacks. By quickly moving to the side near its arms, you can avoid the attack’s area of effect while getting in close for several safe hits on its vulnerable parts.

The Reborn Treant Soulwood has two distinct phases, with new attacks added once its health drops to 50%.

MoveDescription & Counter
VacuumThe boss lowers its head and inhales in a large cone. Sprint directly away from it to avoid being pulled in and damaged. This is a great opportunity to run to its side and attack its arm.
Flame BlastThe boss gathers fire and unleashes a cone-shaped blast. Skeletons also spawn and can immobilize you. Immediately run to its sides to avoid the blast and attack its head or hands.
Burrowing BranchIt buries a hand into the ground, which erupts after three pulses. Dodge the initial slam, attack the trapped arm, and then dodge again as it pulls free. Watch out for smaller living branches that spawn.
Blood GlobulesIt spits three homing blood orbs. Perfect-dodging these is key to spawning blue buds so you can gain Skyborn Might.

The boss will continue to use all Phase 1 attacks, supplemented by a dangerous new move.

MoveDescription & Counter
Branch SwingThe Soulwood performs a wide, sweeping swing with its arm. Back away to a safe distance to avoid the attack.

The Reborn Treant Soulwood is located deep within the Corpse Pits at the very end of the Doomwillow Beach area. To reach the boss arena, you must navigate the beach and knock down large Corpse Trees to create bridges, connecting the paths that lead to the fight.

Defeating the Reborn Treant Soulwood yields valuable items and an achievement.

  • Alltree Jade Cylinder x1
  • Echo of Soulwood x1

After the fight, take the Alltree Jade Cylinder to the merchant Tao Qing. This will unlock new items for purchase in his shop, including the Lifesteal Pendant.
